RENAULT MAKES IT A HAT-TRICK AS IT “CAPTUR”ES
CROSSOVER CATEGORY AT NEXT GREEN CAR AWARDS
Chic and cheerful newcomer Captur has landed Renault a hat-trick of Next Green Car Awards.
The Renault Captur 1.5 dCi 90 Stop & Start locked down the Crossover category at this year’s ceremony, to follow hot on the wheels of 2012 champion ZOE (Supermini and Gold Award categories) and 2011 winner Scénic (MPV).
Despite only arriving in UK showrooms last month, the French marque’s latest model is proving to be an extremely stylish, versatile, frugal and keenly priced addition to the compact crossover market.
Glory at the most scientifically-based green car awards in the UK, thanks to an impressive Green Car Rating of 28, has only added to the Renault’s appeal.
Phil York, Renault UK’s Marketing Director, said: “Captur is not just great to look at, well equipped and attractively priced versus the competition; this award also proves it has the best eco-credentials in terms of low CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.
“Customers want economical and efficient cars now more than ever, and the Captur delivers on every front. The trophy is a great way to celebrate its arrival to the UK and underlines Renault’s commitment to producing a class-leading range of ‘green’ vehicles by making it three wins in as many years at the Next Green Car Awards.”
On a successful night for Renault, Clio was also Commended in the Supermini category.
Prize winners are picked primarily for their low Green Car Rating, but account is also taken of the level of innovation, value, drive experience and design.
Dr Ben Lane, Managing Director of Next Green Car, said: "2013 continues to see the roll-out of high quality plug-in electric models supported by Government funding in the form of purchase grants and an expanding national charging network.
“With an increasing number of fuel efficient petrol and diesel models also being launched, UK car buyers wanting to go green and cut fuel costs have never had so much choice."
The Next Green Car Awards provides car buyers with an independent view on the best green cars to buy in 2013. In addition to CO2 emissions, with Captur measuring 95g/km, the Green Car Rating assesses the impacts of seven other emissions (including NOx and particulates) across the life cycle of the vehicle, making it possible to compare different fuels and drive-trains on a single scale.
Renault Captur boasts the expressive style and driving position of a SUV, with the practicality of an MPV and the handling and driving pleasure of a hatchback. Personalisation is at the core of its appeal, with three Collections, Arizona, Manhattan and Miami. It also boasts a fully-turbocharged engine line-up, such as the petrol 0.9-litre three-cylinder TCe (Turbo Control Efficiency) 90 and the newly released 1.2 TCe 120 with EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) transmission, plus the high-selling and extra frugal 1.5 dCi 90 diesel. The latter offering 76.4 mpg on the combined cycle and emissions of only 95 g/km. Prices for the four trim level range start from only £12,495 on-the-road.
